Beatrice Bodega

PI

Beatrice Bodega is a molecular biologist specializing in epigenetics. She earned her degree in Medical Biotechnology in 2003 and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology applied to Medical Sciences in 2006 from the University of Milan.

In 2009, she moved to Rome to join Valerio Orlando’s lab at the Dulbecco Telethon Institute (Santa Lucia Foundation), where she specialized in epigenetics and the study of transposable DNA elements in human cell differentiation.

In 2014, she started her independent research career as a Group Leader at INGM (National Institute of Molecular Genetics).

Since 2021, she has been an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology the University of Milan, continuing her research on gene regulation and epigenetics and Coordinator of the Bioinformatics unit at INGM.

Federica Marasca

Federica Marasca

Project Leader (Molecular Biologist)

Federica pursued her master’s and PhD training in epigenetics in the laboratory of Prof. Valerio Orlando in Rome. After obtaining her PhD in 2016, her research continued in Milan within the Bodega Lab, where she investigated human repetitive elements, with a particular focus on the retrotransposon LINE1 and its role in epigenetic regulation of cellular adaptation in T lymphocytes, both under physiological and pathological conditions. Her research interests lie in uncovering hidden epigenetic mechanisms that govern cellular plasticity and adaptation to the environment, leveraging genomic, epigenetic, and advanced microscopy approaches.

Rebecca Vadalà
